Dr Alfred Adler stayed in Krakow as a doctor during the First World War in 1917. He was transferred from Vienna to serve for several months in the Neurological Department of the still operating Crew Hospital in Krakow (Garnison Hospital No. 15). By this time Adler was a well-known physician and medical psychologist. Like Freud’s Psychoanalysis, Adler’s Individual Psychology shared the same fate at the time: After the rapid reception of the theory through Polish medicine, pedagogy and psychology, the Second World War and subsequent Communism contributed to the silence of his theory in psychiatric, educational and intellectual discourse.

We would like Alfred Adler to return to Poland again – not only in the form of a temporarily sent doctor, but so that his works and theories return to Polish medicine, psychology and pedagogy and can be applied in psychotherapeutic practice. To this end, among other things, we support dialogues in the communities of psychiatrists, psychologists and psychotherapists as well as teachers, educators and educators of children and adolescents. Furthermore, we conduct scientific and publishing activities, as well as organise conventions, conferences, scientific seminars, and aim to establish the Association of Polish Individual Psychology, educating Social Workers, Psychotherapists and Psychoanalysts of Individual Psychology.

In addition, we are establishing the Alfred Adler Scholarship, aimed at increasing the development opportunities of school and university students, volunteers and professionals in various fields, by providing them with a material basis for the development of their talents, as well as broadening the possibilities for their own activity.

Anyone interested is welcome to join us. The founder and President of the Foundation is Prof. Dr. Nestor Kapusta from Vienna.
